Meet Ray Sadri.

I am marking my 20th year in writing and specialist communications: BBC journalist, UK Government Chief Press Officer, trusted adviser to MPs, ministers, and Chief Executives — and published novelist.

I began my career as a reporter and newsreader at major regional commercial and BBC radio stations, distilling the big current affairs stories of the day into short and punchy scripts for different audiences.

In Government, I turned complex policy and technical reports into front page news stories.

Most recently, I’ve worked as a trusted adviser to sitting MPs and helped secure financial support for the theatre sector during Covid as well as expansion of the UK newborn screening programme. I’ve prepared Chief Executives for media interviews and Select Committee evidence sessions, and provided crisis communications to ministers, housing associations and high-profile individuals.

I also serve as a media trainer for senior leaders at British BIDs, the national body for Business Improvement Districts.

Outside work, I balance my professional life with tennis, the violin, politics — and writing witty cat fiction over strong coffee.
